Welcome to Cotton River Farm

Nestled in the heart of Georgia, Cotton River Farm is built on generations of craftsmanship and a passion for sustainable living. Our story began in 1981 when our family put down roots on a 40+ acre homestead, rich with history—including the stone foundations of an old grist mill that still stand today.

Barry, a master builder and author of The Roof Framer’s Bible, has spent over 40 years in construction. His daughter, Natalie, returned to the homestead in 2020, drawn back by a desire for simplicity and self-sufficiency. Inspired by her daughter’s love for chickens, the family’s passion for poultry-keeping grew.

Needing a durable, low-maintenance coop that could be easily built and moved, we designed the hoop coop—a cost-effective solution for raising chickens on fresh grass with less work. But this was more than just a project. It was Barry’s dream to share these blueprints with others while using the proceeds to set aside savings for his eight grandchildren, ensuring a lasting legacy on the farm.
