Our story began in 1981 when our family put down roots on aĀ 40+ acre homestead, rich with historyā€”including the stone foundations of an old grist mill that still stand today.

Barry, a master builder and author of The Roof Framerā€™s Bible, has spent over 40 years in construction. His daughter, Natalie, returned to the homestead in 2020, drawn back by a desire for simplicity and self-sufficiency. Inspired by her daughterā€™s love for chickens, the familyā€™s passion for poultry-keeping grew.
Needing a durable, low-maintenance coop that could be easily built and moved, we designed the hoop coopā€”a cost-effective solution for raising chickens on fresh grass with less work. But this was more than just a project. It was Barryā€™s dream to share these blueprints with others while using the proceeds to set aside savings for his eight grandchildren, ensuring a lasting legacy on the farm.
